It can be very overwhelming when a person searches on the internet for lean manufacturing jobs. I did a random search on the internet for a lean manufacturing jobs posting and I found this one for a Lean Coordinator. You will notice that this company has defined the education, skill, and personality type of the person it is looking for in their Job Description and Job Requirements. They are looking for someone with a wide range of experience in several disciplines such as lean manufacturing, , quality, presentation skills, training development, design and documentation software, report writing, project management, and cost analysis. Read the lean manufacturing jobs posting and try to define the type of person they are looking for:

Job Description:

This position reports to the Operations Manager and will provide you with the responsibilities of:

  • Facilitating lean improvement teams across the plant – multiple teams at one time
  • Developing the 2-3 year strategy for lean implementation for each department
  • Evaluating the training needs for each functional area and developing a training plan
  • eaching OEE, TPM, SMED, Takt Time, Cell Layout, 5S, Value Stream Mapping, Continuous Flow, JIT, Kanban, Project Management, Cost Analysis and Process Capability Analysis
  • Developing Lean Experts in each area to facilitate teams
  • Developing processes and systems to ensure sustainability
  • Guiding the teams through Kaizen events and helping with justification
  • Tracking and reporting team progress – teaching teams how to use the metrics and informing the of the progress in each area
  • Assisting in the development of future state value streams and helping teams prioritize the tasks that need to be accomplished to get there
  • Becoming the go to person for all teams and providing support where needed

Job Requirements

An excellent candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree desired and/or equivalent experience in a related field
  • Must have experience working in a manufacturing plant; fabrication and assembly processes preferred
  • Experience implementing and managing a Lean program in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, ability to develop training and teach
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of individuals throughout the plant and office
  • Familiar with quality systems
  • Strong project management skills
  • AutoCAD or Solid Works experience desired
  • Green belt or black belt preferred not required
